Grey Whales I watched the storm clouds blowing over the bay Nature will take her course, and catch us anyway In a thunder rush Lightning strikes all around In gold and lavender Haven’t I known you before this? Wasn’t it in Monterey, Out on Asilomar Watching the Grey Whales as they Swam south Followed by the Orcas I dreamt I swam along Through waters warm and blue What matters time to me? It’s all relative As the waves turn the rocks to sand And in a thousand years Who will walk this beach A distant different shoreline I talk about eternity It all comes back to me As the sun sets And the wind blows This could be anytime While whales still swim the seas

about

Lost in the Colonies was started by 5-string banjo wizard Luke Wilson, centered on his avant-garde approach to music. With the addition of Maggie, the band was soon combining folk rock and Newgrass.
A somewhat loose confederation of Calgary musicians were considered fellow bandmates, flowing in and out of gigs as needed. These included keyboardist Ron Casat, bassists Bill Eaglesham and Phil Hall, drummer percussionists Ray McAndrew and Jack Hiles, guitarist/flutist Peter Marley, guitarist Gary Bird, mandolinist Rodney Brent, dobro player Byron Olsen, and violinist Michael Heiden. Being imaginative, light on your feet, agile with your fingers, and ready to play should you be thrown a break were the only skills required.
